….you pair the analytical skill of Carla Hegeman Crim, The Scientific Seamstress, with the design maven Jennifer Paganelli of Sis Boom fame? You get a fantastic line of patterns, downloadable patterns!!!
Their latest joint project ~ which I will be making for my granddaughter~ is the Cathy Dress and Top.
I tried this one first. The Meghan Peasant Dress …

Meghan Dress/Top
I am not the skinny model type shown on the pattern cover
but I knew if I made it a tunic length with the bell sleeve option, it would be perfect for me and I was right!
I made the XL, following Carla’s guide for both the measurements and the dress size … and, again, it was~perfect! I grabbed some Jennifer Paganelli Flower Power for the top and some Pretty Please for the bottom.
The only thing I did differently was put the casing on the outside of the sleeve for an accent and a strip of the skirt print down the bodice ….. now it says “rosie” ….which was fun and completely doable with this fun pattern.
So, what do I think of Carla and Jennifer’s pattern? It was remarkable!
- The instructions are clear and precise.
- Printing was a snap (you only need to print out the specific size you are making).
- Assembling the pattern was fun and easy …. every thing lined up perfectly.
- The sizing was right on and the fit is comfortable.
- A big plus for me ~ instant gratification ~ order, print and sew!
I will be making more of Carla’s patterns! In fact, I am off to order some more now
p.s. I had so much fun, I immediately dug through my stash and made another. Yippee!
