tutorial tuesday

So I’ve spent most of the morning trying to get on the blog to which this adorable tutorial is linked.  I found these photos on Pinterest, and since the link address reads “tutorial” right in it, I’m assuming that the blogger is sharing her project.  I’m going to link to it in hopes that it’s a server issue and that it will eventually work, but I think that we can look at it and figure out what she did and how to do it ourselves.

It is, however, a very creative little project!

From the procedure photo is appears that the first step is to gather lots of fabric scraps that are large enough to be cut from a heart template.  The hearts shown here are all traditional Valentine reds, pinks, and white, but if that doesn’t fit your color scheme, why not do blue, purple, and green instead?  Or what about all black and white with one red heart?  Whatever scraps you have, I say…go with it!

The next step would be to paint a canvas (I have a smaller one in my closet that would be great for this).  If you choose the color palette of the hearts first, then you could coordinate your paint to the fabric.  Again, the sky is the limit as far as color choice!

What next do you think?  Once the paint dries, then mod podge the hearts in place?  Or perhaps if a heat n’ bond was ironed to the back first, then you could peel and iron the hearts on gently.  How would you go about it?

I really hope that the tutorial eventually loads.  Maybe it’s just my computer but I even closed my browser and reopened it to try again.  I have a bunch of scraps just waiting for a project like this!
