Isn’t this amazing?  Have you tried one yet?  Please bear with me ~ the wonderful world of quilting is still a mystery to me. I know this is not “new” but the concept is new for me. What is this thing called paper piecing? hex 1&2

I will be trying this soon for my smaller pieces of fabric left over from making clothes. I really like the larger hexagon look ~ very retro modern.

I am so glad to have stumbled on Thimble Blossoms  Hexagon Quilt Tutorial. It really took me down a whole another road. I have been looking for “couch work” and, by george, I think I’ve found it!

ready, set, sew!  :-) rosie

  1. So there are actually 2 kinds of paper piecing – this hexagon thing is referred to as English paper piecing…there’s also paper foundation piecing where you sew complicated little odd shaped pieces onto a paper foundation, I did quite a bit of this once upon a time…I designed my own with EQ (4, then 5, by the time 6 came around I was closing in on my current iteration of artistic development…)

THere’s so much out there on this:

I LOVE paper piecing, especially the hexagon flowers… you can even take it to the beach to work on!

  3. I have worked aaallll winter long and have about 5 completed hexagon flowers.
I may opt for a journal cover and leave the quilt to you.
    It’s inspiring, though, beautiful!
