Once again, I’ve rounded up some inspiring fabric storage ideas from sewists with drool worthy stashes.  Today, I’m just looking at fabric storage.  Later this week I’ll gather some other sewing and notions storage inspiration.  Enjoy!

Using a DVD or CD tower/shelves keeps neat stacks from falling over.  Great idea!

This looks like a vintage mail cubby turned into fat quarter storage.  I love the repurposed and rustic look!

Putting together cubical shelves (like the ones from Closet Maid) gives you fabric storage AND a cutting/work area.  Great idea!

Larger pieces on hangers like this keeps things neat.  Organize by color, by collection, or by project…all together on one hanger!

You’ve probably seen this one before, but it remains one of my favorites.  I stored mine this way for quite some time, but found that I needed at least 1/2 – 3/4 of a yard to keep them on the mini bolt.

Okay, now go get organized!

  3. Wow! These are great ideas and just in time for me. My husband has been slowly working on a sewing room for me. Your post makes me want to take a trip to Ikea. Great post!

I’ll make the trip to Ikea with you! I did my sewing room with shelves from Ikea, but I chose much bigger ones. I LOVE the DVD towers. Smaller might be better because right now my stacks are a MESS!
